When Disney artists are asked to recreate one of the beloved characters from the screen into a beautiful and truly accurate piece of art, the artist painstakingly refers to original animation art, character model sheets, and when possible, the original animator of the beloved character. The artists must ask him or herself questions like, "What does she look like from the side? " or "How is her hair supposed to flow?" Through much trial and error not to mention time, a truly beloved character is created. Now to paint it...the colors on screen were created for a projection light, making it difficult to match for a sculpt. The artist must interpret the intended color and then make adjustments for firing temperatures. During this whole process the artist learns that certain other materials prove better for a specific application..."plussing"... We often see these pluses in the form of glass bubbles, crystals, pewter tails, and much more. task, but well worth the final result! This webiste is a personal salute to the sculpts, artists, and to the original animation...enjoy! |
